Shahbagh

by Shamsul Islam

My brothers my sisters
Realize you are realized
The sprite of infinite is in you.

Create the world you want
But not with blood on your hands
The stain will never go away.

Chanting for death in name of justice
We have seen that before
We are greater then left or right propaganda.

Let our generation inherit peace
Let our rebellion be peace and love
Let our revolution be shift in consciousness.

Shamsul Islam is a Bangladeshi-American filmmaker based in New York. He worked on “Blood Soaked Banner of Phulbari,†a documentary on the Phulbari people’s movement in Bangladesh.
