INTERNATIONAL COURT AND JUSTICE IN GAZA: A PUBLIC MEETING ON THE ICJ RULING (Constitution Club, 23 February)

On 26 January 2024, in response to South Africa’s application against Israel for carrying out genocide in Gaza, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruled that Israel must “take all measures within its power” to prevent such actions. This ruling is of historic significance because it is for the first time that the world’s highest court has held Israel accountable for its violations of international law against Palestinians. This imposes a moral and legal obligation on other country members of ICJ, including India, to cease funding and otherwise facilitating Israel’s military actions.

In this context, we, Indians for Palestine, a group of concerned citizens, are convening a public meeting on ‘The International Court and Justice in Gaza’. Its aim is to reflect on the implications of this crucial ruling and extend our support to the people of Palestine.

The meeting will be held at the Constitution Club (Rafi Marg, New Delhi 110001), between 3 pm and 6 pm on 23 February 2024, in the form of a public conversation between representatives of political parties, the media, the diplomatic community, the legal profession, foreign policy experts and we the people.

The speakers include:

  • Adnan Abu Al Haija (Palestinian Ambassador to India)
  • Anand Grover
  • KP Fabian
  • Siddharth Varadarajan
  • Subhashini Ali
  • Asaduddin Owaisi
  • Manoj Jha
  • Dipankar Bhattacharya
  • Salman Khurshid
  • Amarjeet Kaur

We look forward to everyone’s participation at this meeting, as an expression of solidarity with the people of Palestine.
