MORE THAN 1000 PEOPLE MARCH ON THE STREETS OF CALCUTTA.

Calcutta, 15th July,1999.
More than 1000 peoples from all walks of life participated in the
March covering a stretch of 4 kms not even bothering the day temparature
generated from the scorching Sun in the noon. Two of the members of the
Pakistan India People Forum for Peace and Democracy got sick, but they did not withdrew themselves from the March and completed it with all others.
The procession, as colourful it could be,displayed the following demands
in banners and posters.Peoples participating in the March also chanted the
same demands with much exuberance.
The demands :
1. Govt. of India and Pakistan shall have to stop the war frenzy
created by themselves and must work out ways for ensuring permanent peace
in the
sub-continent;
2. Both the Governments must withstand Imperialist directives and
supervision and should ensure peace through bilateral negotiation;
3.. Communal harmony shall have to be maintained and must not be
disturbed on the plea of the war;
4. Not war peoples need food and employment;
5. Kashmir problem has to be resolved honouring the expectations
and aspirations of the people of Kashmir as a whole.
Apart from these main demands participants in the March chanted slogans
against the attacks on the workers of the peace movements perpetrated by
the Govt.sponsored facist/ semifacist hooligans.
