Lamia Karim

Lamia Karim is associate professor of cultural anthropology at the University of Oregon-Eugene. Her research interests include globalization. gender, Islamic nationalism, violence, postcolonial feminist theory, and the anthropology of institutions. Her forthcoming book ‘Microfinance and Its Discontents: Gender and NGOs in Bangladesh’ (University of Minnesota Press, Fall 2010) is a study of grassroots globalization, neoliberalism and gender through the prism of micro- credit loans. Her new research is a study of feminist legal reform in Bangladesh.
