India: Nuclear Power Corporation Sued at Delhi High Court

PMANE Sues NPCIL at Delhi High Court

The People’s Movement Against Nuclear Energy (PMANE) is suing the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd. (NPCIL) and its parent body the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) for not giving copies of the Site Evaluation Report (SER) and the Safety Analysis Report (SAR) as directed by the Central Information Commission back in April 2012.

The writ petition that has just been filed at the DHC is seeking a direction “that the Safety Analysis Report together with the complete copy of the Site Evaluation Report be made available to the Petitioner as well as to public in accordance with the direction of Central Information Commission†and is requesting “to initiate action against the Respondent No. 2, NPCIL for willful disobedience of the directions of the Central Information Commission.â€

In the meantime, the PMANE is screening the documentary “Ippadikku Thozhar Senkodi†by Vettivel Chandrasekar on September 2, 2012 at Idinthakarai to honor the memory of and to pay our respect to Thozhar Senkodi. Dr. S. Ramadoss, the founder of Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), is coming to Idinthakarai on September 3, 2012. General V. K. Singh, the former Army Chief (retired), and Mr. M. G. Devasahayam, IAS (retired) are visiting Idinthakarai on September 9, 2012.

The “Koodankulam Children†will be writing letters to the daughters of the President of the United States, the people of Russia and to the people of Australia with regards to the Koodankulam Nuclear Power Project and the overall nuclear program of India.
