We condemn the mass detention of 5500 people of Mahuva, Gujarat. Mr. Modi has mortgaged the State of Gujarat to the Big Industries.
Government of Gujarat is saying “Industry is Gujarat†, “Gujarat State is Industry†and “Gujarat Government is Industry†.
We condemn the mass detention of 5500 people of Mahuva, at Ahmedabad. When the BJP’s members are allowed to take out number of rallies against the price rise all over Gujarat with over-respect, over-dignity and full protection by police force then why people of Mahuva were not allowed to take out the peaceful rally and submit the memorandum to the Government? State of Gujarat is ruled by politics of “BHAI†and the state has useless, ruthless and repressive Government.
This ruthless action at Ahmedabad is preceded by more ruthless and brutal repression on people including women since several days at Mahuva.
The memorandum is signed by 11,111 affected individuals with their own blood. These farmers from Mahuva area in Bhavnagar district are protesting the illegal and immoral decision by the Government of Gujarat to sanction a cement plant by Nirma Ltd, which includes 288 hectares of land for the factory and another 3000 hectares for a limestone quarry. Mahuva area has among the most fertile lands in Gujarat, where farmers grow three crops, and exports dehydrated onions and grows numerous other fruits.
We condemn the detention of the people of Mahuva.
By not allowing democratic protest Mr. Modi, who has mortgaged the State of Gujarat to Industries, is conveying the explicit message to the people in general that people’s rights & livelihood are not the concerns of his government. It also try to convey the message to people that this particular type of democratic means of protest are not enough to get attention of his government.
Government of Gujarat is saying “Industry is Gujarat†, “Gujarat State is Industry†and “Gujarat Government is Industry†.
We appeal the people of Gujarat to support the mass movement of Mahuva people and oppose the on going repression.
