Nurses at Public Hospitals on Strike Across India

12 to 27 Feb 2016 relay hunger strike by nurses & mass causual leave action planned for 26 Feb

Nurses Agitation in India in 2016 began on 12 February and has warned of national strike action starting 15 March.

The agitation which has been led by various nurses’ organisations began around the time when the recommendations for the 7th Pay Commission were submitted to the government.

The representatives for All India Government Nurses Federation have since agitated multiple times and requested meetings with government but no appointment was provided.

The nurse are demanding a hike in wages and allowances — "the entry pay grade for staff nurses should be enhanced to Rs 5,400 from the existing Rs 4,600. Also the nursing allowance should be enhanced by Rs 7,800. Risk allowance and night duty allowances should be given to all nurses as it is given to all other government employees" (via PTI report)
