India Gate, 600 PM : a call given by Delhi Solidarity Group and Nagrik Ekta Manch, AISA and others for candle light vigil at India Gate in memory of those dead at Peshawar siege was not tolerated by Delhi Police. Delhi police disrupted the whole programme and then used mild force on men and women. There were no women police officials but men not only misbehaved but also snatched away the candle. Once Swami Agnivesh joined the March they allowed us to move out of the radial on the main road, but there they cordoned off the whole area and then forcefully arrested Swami Agnivesh, Prof Apoorvanand, JNU president Ashutosh Kumar, Delhi Solidarity Group Convener Sanjeev Kumar, Women’s activist Purnima Gupta, farmers leader and NAPM convener Bhupender Singh Rawat and 15 others.

They are all detained at Parliament Street police station. Women activists were picked up by men police and now even in evening they are all at a police station, this says a lot about Delhi Police.

NAPM strongly condemns this action and demands immediate release and an apology from Delhi Police for use of force and disrupting the programme, which was done in memory of children killed by the terrorists. when people of this country are saying we stand with Pakistan in hour of crisis, then Indian State is calking them anti national and arresting them. The only way is peace and we have to condemn terrorism in all forms.
