Dear

There has been a consensus in India that stable growth of industry is critical to the nationís progress. When the BJP formed the government, you must have cherished the desire for "stability". As the accompanying document makes clear, this "stable" government has shamelessly endorsed the following acts of the Sangh Parivar:
* a sustained pogrom and hate campaign against the minorities;
* the systematic undermining of the Constitution and all democratic institutions;
* subversion of the bureaucracy and media;
* attacks on those attempting to restore sanity;
* attacks on the allies of the government;
* complete destruction of sections of Gujaratís economy.

Is this what you would call "stability"? Is this conducive to growth and progress?

Ordinary citizens of this country, of all classes and religions, are appalled by what is happening to the "stable" nation. They are also asking where is the social responsibility of industry and business? ó so clearly displayed only a year ago at the time of the Gujarat earthquake.

Indian industrialists have played a key role in the nationís development and acted decisively in times of crisis. Your silence at this juncture is greatly disturbing. How long will you remain bystanders while these acts of genocide are ruthlessly committed?

We urge you to demand:
1. The immediate removal and criminal prosecution of the Chief Minister for presiding over the carnage.
2. The immediate dismissal of the present Gujarat Government for participating in the pogrom.
3. The immediate recall of the present Gujarat Governor for abdicating his Constitutional responsibilities.
4. The urgent implementation of a massive programme of rehabilitation and economic recovery.
